What we do. |
AwarenessOur club seeks to provide reliable, factual information to University of Oregon students and the broader community about current refugee crises around the world and immigration to the US. Additionally, we work to increase knowledge of the U.S. resettlement process and the challenges of integration for all types of immigrants.
We regularly facilitate guest lecture events, film screenings and group discussions, all of which are open to the community. Our club also gives presentations for classes, student and community groups, and can lead workshops. |
InvolvementWe work closely with the Lane County Refugee Resettlement Coalition, volunteering with their outreach team, providing English tutoring for resettled refugees, and assisting in other local projects and fundraisers supporting newly resettled refugees.
We also have a model refugee tent which we have set up at numerous events and schools. If you are interested in having us set up an educational event, please email us at [email protected] |
AdvocacyOne of our primary goals is to support educational opportunities for refugee youth. Countless young refugees are unable to continue their studies as conflicts force them to flee their homes. Many of these students had been working towards university degrees, with high hopes for their futures and great potential.
We are currently working on a campaign to establish a number of scholarships within the University of Oregon so that admitted refugee students may attend free of cost. If you would like to learn more about this initiative and how you can contribute, please refer to our page on how to "get involved." |
